On Sunday July 8, 2007, Million Year Picnic, Harvard Square’s underground(literal and figurative)comic headquarters, became the world’s first store to carry Free, Will #1
.
Thanks to the Tony, the kind and supportive gentleman who gave me a more than generous deal, my little comic is on a shelf right after “The Flash”. To have something I created among the great artists, writers, and characters is a true testament to what a great little store Million Year is. In one stop you can get great independant comics, your favorite Marvel and DC’s, and a great selection of local books. I’m glad I made it the first place I brought my comic. It gave me confidence to further promote it.

After that I headed over to New England Comics who very happily gave up valuable shelf space for some of my books.Hannah, the girl working there, also directed me to their Allston store. She said that it was had a bigger local artist market. So, that will be my next attempt. If you have a comic you’ve published I would highly recommend dealing with these stores. They truly have the love of comics and a grasp on the charm of local artist and independant “funny books”.

Its official. “Free, Will” Issue one is complete. Please contact me at jlane@theplancomics.com for info on purchasing. I would like to thank the people at comixpress.com for there professional quality and a great website.
Ever Since my cousin showed me the issue 258 of Amazing Spiderman I have been a comic book collector. I always loved the caharacters and the cartoons but after that day in the summer of ‘86 I started buying mass quanities of comics. So anything involving the alien costume means a lot to me. And I must say the new Spiderman movie did not disappoint.
Years ago I would have been annoyed by such a poor adaptation of the sacred Alien Symbiote Costume Saga. But now as a comic reading adult(oxymoron?) and in the age of the Ultimate Universe, I can enjoy spiderman movies for what they are…great movies.
I mean I wish they at least referenced Secret Wars or had the movie start with Spidey and Doc Connors(Lizard) return to earth but, I understand these movies are for the masses. I could have done without the Night Club Dance scene but it certainly didn’t ruin the movie for me. Venom was a highlight as well. My only complaint there is the need to show Topher Grace’s face every time he talked as Venom. Another highight was the Spidey/Harry team up. I couldn’t help picturing Harry as Human Torch and thinking of the classic duo of Spidey and Matchstick Head.
They even got Sandman’s Shirt dead on. They can do that but they make Gobby in the first movie look like a Power Ranger??? Overall a great movie, though.

This is the cover to the first issue of Free, Will. It will be available on Comixpress.com soon! I’ve added the hand drawn version and one without text to show the before and after
.

I am currently looking into way of self publishing my in progress comic, called Free, Will. Issue one should be done in a couple of months. I wish I had more time to work on it and could pump out an issue a month.
